BACOLOD City – A total of 375 police trainees of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) have finished their five-day Community Immersion Program (CIP) in seven barangays.
The trainees underwent CIP in Mansilingan, Taculing, Mandalagan, Pahanocoy, Alijis, Tangub, and Villamonte from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The training included social investigation, cleanup drive, feeding program, and other activities, according to Negros Island Region Training Center 18 (NIRTC-18) director Superintendent Jimmy Laguyo.
The trainees were enrolled in the Public Safety Field Training Program at the NIRTC-18 in Bakyas, Mansilingan.
The CIP is in compliance with Department of the Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular No. 2003-206 directing the integration of Barangay Immersion Program into the curriculum of all the Public Safety Courses of the Philippine Public Safety College, Laguyo said.
Prior to their CIP, the 375 police trainees were formally turned over by acting BCPO director Senior Superintendent Flynn Dongbo to Mayor Evelio Leonardia during rites at the police headquarters on Nov. 28.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and the barangay’s captains or their representatives were also present at the turnover rites.
Leonardia said it was the first time in all his years as mayor that police trainees were endorsed to him for community immersion.
He encouraged them to do their duties as police officers, given their significant presence in the community.
Leonardia also told them to support the thrust of President Rodrigo Duterte in fighting illegal drugs and help maintain peace and order in barangays. (Bacolod City PIO/PN)
