MANILA – Kyla Soguilon maintained her fine form as she took home the Most Outstanding Swimmer (MOS) plum in the 106th Philippine Swimming League (PSL) National Series-10th Sen. Nikki Coseteng Swimming Championships on Sunday.
The Kalibo, Aklan-native Soguilon showed her prowess in the 12-and-under class with a record-setting feat in the 100 meter individual medley, to dominate the swimfest held at the Diliman Preparatory School swimming pool in Quezon City.
Soguilon, a product of the Sut Yan Sen School in Aklan, bagged her second MOS trophy in as many weeks after also claiming the same recognition at the 105th PSL National Series in Roxas, Capiz.
Soguilon’s fellow Aklanon swimmer Joanna Cervas, meanwhile, was hailed the MOS in the girls’ 11-and-under division for winning gold in the 100 meter individual medley and 50 meter backstroke.
Aside from Soguilon and Cervas, also claiming the MOS citation in the two-day swimming event were Marc Bryan Dula and Michaela Dula, who were cited in the boys’ 9-year and girls’ 8-year categories, respectively.
“It’s a good showing that these kids are improving from time to time. We will continue giving them proper exposure to further hone their skills for future international tournaments,” said PSL president Susan Papa.
“We saw a lot of potential swimmers here. We already have a few names that are qualified to represent our country in international level. It’s a fruitful start and we’re looking forward to see more talents,” she added./PN
