BACOLOD City – Two people were killed after a tricycle crashed against a cargo truck around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday in Purok Pine Tree, Barangay Tabunan, Bago City.
Nery Sormida, 22, and Jimmy Monloy Jr., 19, both residents of Purok Seawall, Barangay Punta Taytay, Bacolod City died on the spot.
Injured were Roger Tapang Canoy, 18; Ogie Francisco Huego, 20; Jason Barbon, 19; and Kevin Navarro Casabuena, 16. They were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Police Superintendent David Cachumbo said the victims were on their way to Barangay Dulao in the town to attend a fiesta when the incident happened.
They were travelling on their way to the barangay when they collided with a cargo truck running from the opposite direction.
The tricycle driver reportedly lost control, Cachumbo said.
The cargo truck driver, identified as Joel Vaflor, 39, of Purok Bolinao, Barangay Zone 6, Cadiz City was taken to the Bago City lockup cell.
Last week, two minor girls also died in a road mishap near the place. Angel Marie Casidsid, 12, and Daniela Robles, 13, were on their way to church when they were hit by a 10-wheeler cargo truck./PN
