ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Hall Press Corps (ICHPC) distributed gifts and fed female inmates of the Iloilo City District Jail (ICDJ) female dormitory.
ICHPC also turned over 40 stacking chairs and two electric fans.
“This is an annual activity of city hall beat reporters. The tradition started 15 years ago,” said Runji Jamolo of DyLL Radyo ng Bayan, president of the press corps.
A total of 178 female inmates feasted on arroz caldo and lunch, too, courtesy of the Philippine Red Cross – Iloilo and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6, respectively.
DSWD regional information officer May Rago Castillo also gave a lecture on ending violence against women.
Citing the congestion at the female dormitory, the city hall press believed the electric fans and chairs could somehow alleviate the discomfort of the inmates this holiday season.
SM City Iloilo sponsored the electric fans and chairs./PN
