ILOILO City – With the most number of championships at the end of the 2016 Iloilo Private Schools Athletics Association (ILOPRISAA) earlier in the month, the Central Philippine (CPU) Golden Lions’ winning teams will soon be back on the training block after a short break, in preparation for the 2017 West Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet set from Feb. 1 to 5 at the Binirayan Sports Complex in Antique.
The Golden Lions is slated to represent ILOPRISAA in 26 events in the upcoming WVRAA tournament.
CPU is leading ILOPRISAA in contending for gold in the following competitions:

*Football elementary boys
*Volleyball secondary boys
*Volleyball secondary girls
*Volleyball elementary boys
*Volleyball elementary girls
*Chess secondary boys
*Chess secondary girls
*Chess elementary boys
*Basketball secondary girls
*Softball secondary girls
*Taekwondo elementary boys
*Taekwondo secondary boys
*Taekwondo secondary girls
*Tennis secondary boys
*Tennis secondary girls
*Tennis elementary boys
*Tennis elementary girls
*Table Tennis secondary boys
*Table Tennis secondary girls
*Table Tennis elementary boys

In the recently concluded 2016 Iloilo Schools Sports Council-Integrated Meet, the Golden Lions represented ILOPRISAA to claim the secondary level volleyball boys, volleyball girls, table tennis boys, table tennis girls, taekwondo boys – kyoroge, taekwondo boys – poomsae, and tennis girls championships.
Meanwhile, in the elementary level, CPU-ILOPRISAA claimed gold in the table tennis boys and tennis boys events, as well as silver in the football boys competition./PN
