BACOLOD City – A 34-year-old housewife was found dead on Sunday in Sitio Magtuhod, Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana town.
Niña Lampaso, a resident of the place, was believed to have been stabbed to death. She was also naked when found, police said.
Lampaso sustained stab wounds on her back and her head was struck with a hard object, police added.
The La Castellana police identified the suspect as Jovito Leonor, 23, a resident of the barangay and a distant relative of the victim.
According to Senior Inspector Jerry Nacion, Lampaso was about to fetch her 10-year-old daughter who was with her aunt when she was waylaid by the suspect.
Nacion believes that the victim fought back. He added that the Leonor was drunk.
The police revealed that Leonor has several cases of entering houses in the barangay whenever he is drunk.
He was arrested in a follow-up operation and was taken to the La Castellana police station lockup cell.
Nacion subjected the victim to autopsy to determine if she was raped./PN
