BACOLOD City – The new Police Station 2 building on B.S. Aquino Drive is not yet fit for occupancy, the city engineer stressed.
The contractor has not yet turned over the structure to the city government, said Belly Aguillon.
City hall is funding the construction of the police station building.
Under correct procedures, upon completion, Gram Construction and Supply must turn over the building to the city government, which will have it inspected by the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), said Aguillon.
After which, the General Services Office, the city government property custodian, will “accept” the structure. That is when the building may be turned over to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), she said.
But Police Station 2 officers are already using the still incomplete building as a detention facility, Aguillon said.
Gram Construction and Supply started the construction just this June. The budget is P3,004,489.90.
In November Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias, police station chief, asked BCPO director Senior Superintendent Flynn Dongbo to let them transfer some detainees to a temporary cell in the unfinished building.
Their cell at the BCPO headquarters, where they currently hold administrative functions, is already congested due to the influx of illegal drug suspects, said Villarias. Dongbo gave them clearance.
Aguillon claimed she knew that Police Station 2 officers are already using the unfinished building only from the news.
