MANILA – The PBA Commissioner’s Office on Thursday slapped a total of P26,000 in fines against NLEX Road Warriors cagers Asi Taulava, Enrico Villanueva and Ilonggo guard Eman Monfort.
Among the three, Villanueva was hit the hardest as he was told to pay P15,000 for his “sarcastic and disrespectful on-court behavior”. A flagrant foul penalty each against Alaska Aces’ Carl Bryan Cruz and Marion Magat was also dealt by PBA officials.
Monfort, on the other hand, was penalized P10,000 for committing an injurious foul against Aces’ forward Cruz, while Taulava was hit with a P1,000 fine for a “dress code violation.”
Four TNT Katropa players – namely Roger Rey Pogoy, Kris Rosales, Harvey Carey and Moala Tautuaa – were slapped with a total of P8,000 in fines for separate on court violations.
Pogoy was penalized P5,000 for “hitting on an airborne player with wind-up motion,” while P1,000 each against Rosales (dress code violation), Carey (technical foul) and Tautuaa (pointing an accusing finger towards a game official) was charged.
Aces’ Cruz, GlobalPort Batang Pier’s Paul Rico Maierhofer and Blackwater Elite’s Kyle Pascual were fined P3,000 each for flopping violations, while Mahindra Floodbuster’s Ryan Araña was penalized P1,000 for using profane language.
According to PBA commissioner Andres Narvasa, all monetary fines collected from the players go directly to the Players’ Trust Fund for the benefit of the retired players scholarship program./PN
