BACOLOD City – Will Senior Superintendent Flynn Dongbo, acting city police director, be relieved soon?
Dongbo was due for relief, an official from the Police Regional Office 18 who requested anonymity claimed, citing information from the higher police headquarters.
Panay News tried to reach Dongbo for comment, but the officer was not in his office and his phone cannot be reached.
Sought for comment, Mayor Evelio Leonardia disclosed that Dongbo was under evaluation.
Leonardia said he will discuss the matter with Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, regional police director.
Asked if Dongbo still has his trust and confidence, the mayor did not give a categorical answer — he said chiefs of police were being continuously evaluated, and Dongbo was “under that kind of status.”
Dongbo earned flak as the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) struggled to solve recent crimes and failed to increase visibility.
Leonardia said he had directed Dongbo and the BCPO to make the antidrug campaign a priority and focus on public officials possibly involved in the illicit trade.
“When you are a public official, you are supposed to have the full trust and confidence of your people,” said the mayor. “Being in the drug business, I think, is a breach of that trust and confidence.”/PN
