BORACAY – Fire broke out in a residential area in Sitio Hagdan, Barangay Yapak.

Two families were left homeless after the blaze razed their houses. Another house was damaged, fire authorities said.

No one was reported injured, but the Boracay Island Special Fire Protection Unit estimated the cost of damage at P700,000.

Starting around 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Delos Reyes compound, the fire was put under control at 8:10 p.m.

Fire investigators have yet to determine its cause.

Aside from the local fire station, those who responded were firefighters and volunteers from the Boracay Action Group, Boracay Fire Rescue and Ambulance Volunteers, Boracay Tourist Assistance Center, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, PARDDS-Boracay, Kabalikat-Civicom Boracay, and auxiliary police.
