BACOLOD City – A father and his 7-year-old daughter had been shot at the public market in Barangay Poblacion, Basay, Negros Oriental.
Two motorcycle-riding suspects fired at police auxiliary Florante Alba, 33, and daughter Louraine Joy, Basay police said.
According to witnesses, the suspects pulled over at Alba’s videoke bar where the victim was eating dinner on Tuesday.
One of the suspects disembarked from the motorcycle and approached Alba, only to pull out a firearm and shoot the latter three times, witnesses told the police.
Even with gunshot wounds on the stomach, Alba ran inside the videoke bar and shouted for help, while the suspects fled.
Louraine Joy was hit on the left shoulder by a bullet that penetrated the bamboo wall of the videoke bar’s small variety store.
Investigation showed the gunman was clad in a pair of denim trousers and a black-and-white jacket, while his accomplice, who was driving their motorcycle, was wearing a pair of denim trousers and a black jacket.
Both suspects were wearing bonnets, police said.
Two empty shells and a slug of a .45 pistol were found at the crime scene.
The father and daughter were taken to the Municipal Health Center later transferred to a hospital in Dumaguete City./PN
