BACOLOD City – A man drowned at the Matab-ang River in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Antonio Garcia, 47, of Barangay Mandalagan went swimming with three others on Tuesday. He was drunk at the time, police said.

Garcia tried to recover his slippers, which were swept by the current, around 2 p.m. but failed to resurface. His lifeless body was found after about 30 minutes.

In Barangay 1, La Carlota City, a 76-year-old man was found dead in a canal.

Godofredo Vallejo was reported missing on Feb. 3. His body was discovered on Monday.
