MANILA – The President of the Philippines reminded large corporations to make their tax payments on time.
“Basta kung ‘yung ibinayad ninyo accurate and correct, on time collection, the spending will be there for you to see,” President Rodrigo ”Rody” Duterte recently said during the launch of Large Taxpayers Service of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
To avoid problems with the government, large taxpayers must pay the right taxes, the President stressed.
“I think that we have a responsible taxpayers’ base. Kayo ‘yung malalaki… No more, no less ako. I will not tax you to death if I think it’s unrealistic. Hindi masyado ako sa taxation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Duterte vowed to keep his administration corruption-free. He vouched for the integrity and efficiency of his cabinet members.
“This I can promise you: there will be no corruption. It behoves upon you to stop it” the former Davao City mayor said.
He promised to implement strict rules on government corporations that would disallow exorbitant and excessive allowances to them.
The Filipinos were also encouraged to be assertive to effectively fight graft and corruption.
In bidding for government projects, Duterte encouraged companies to follow regulations and told those in government to eliminate useless red tape.
The BIR expects a collection goal of P1.8 trillion this year. Last year, the bureau collected P1.6 trillion in taxes./PN
