ILOILO City – In Barangay Poblacion, Banate, Iloilo a 47-year-old bet collector of an illegal numbers game was arrested.
Pedmar Lagrandante of Barangay Merced, Banate was caught by policemen soliciting bets from village residents around 4 p.m. on Feb. 10.
The police seized from Lagrandante P800 cash in various denominations and illegal gambling paraphernalia.
The suspect was taken to the Banate police station.
Lagrandante faces a charge for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9287 that outlaws illegal gambling, specifically Section 3 (c).
If found guilty by the court for being a collector or agent (cabo, cobrador, coriador or variants thereof), the suspect faces the penalty of imprisonment from eight years and one day to 10 years./PN
