SAN JOSE, Antique  – Seventeen food processors from the three municipalities of the province were oriented on marketing strategy, product development, and packaging and labeling training held at Tuburan sang Kabuhi in San Jose.

The activity was initiated by Fr. Edione Febrero of the Diocesan Social Action Center, while the resource persons were tapped from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

DTI-Antique service provider Ines Garingalao said the DOST oriented the participants on appropriate packaging and labeling requirements to be used in the food processors respective products. DTI trade and industry specialist Arlene J. Galopo, meanwhile, discussed marketing strategy and product development.

Garingalao said the local food processors from the towns of Barbaza, Bugasong and Laua-an are expected to adopt the knowledge learned from the two-day training for them to improve the quality and competitiveness of their local products.

Meanwhile, the DTI said six more Negosyo Centers are scheduled to be established in six municipalities of the province this year.

 

The establishment of Negosyo Centers are in line with RA No. 10644 which is aimed to provide better and more efficient services to the micro, small and medium enterprises all throughout the country. (PIA/PN)
