ILOILO City – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) secretary Ramon M. Lopez said seven M’s are needed to help strengthen the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector.
During the 1st Quarter Management Review of DTI Region 6 from Feb. 9-10 at Marzon Hotel, Kalibo, Aklan, Undersecretary for Regional Operations Group Zenaida C. Maglaya reiterated Lopez’s thrust to support MSMEs. And that is through the seven M’s – mindset, mastery, market, money, machines, mentoring and models.
According to Maglaya, the DTI must assist entrepreneurs to have the right mindset and mastery. They should also listen to what the market is asking for.
Further, the agency should provide money, machines and mentoring assistance to MSMEs.
Maglaya added that DTI is also responsible in nurturing entrepreneurs by giving them successful business models.
The DTI currently provides lending options to MSMEs through the Pondo Para sa Pagbabago at Pag-Asenso or the P3 program.
It also assists businesses through its Shared Service Facilities program and coaching sessions at its Negosyo Centers./PN
