NAVY-STANDARD Insurance’s Lloyd Lucien Reynante will be seen for the last time in competitive cycling when the LBC Ronda Pilipinas 2017 resumes with its last three stages this Thursday in Iloilo City.

The Muntinlupa City-native Reynante, one of the most decorated Filipino cyclists today despite not winning the Ronda Pilipinas and the Tour, declared that he is hanging up his bike and cycling jersey after almost two decades of competing.

“I’m resting my tired body from competition, this Ronda will be my last,” Reynante, son of the late fabled Philippine cyclist Manuel Reynante, said in an interview with the Buzzer Beater.

“I’m blessed beyond belief to have been given this chance to compete against the country’s best in more than 20 years and meeting and working with some great people who supported me, what more can I ask for,” he added.

Even if he failed to win a Tour title, Reynante said he is more than fulfilled with his three Tour runner-up finishes, countless Top 5 and Top 10 finishes in his two decades of career.

“I’m probably the only Filipino rider with the most second place finishes and I have contended in so many others that made me feel that I won it too,” said Reynante, who hopes to become a national team coach soon.

“I’ve actually coaching Navy-Standard Insurance for years and if they went me to coach them again next year, it will be honor for me to do so. I also have a new team in Bike Extreme,” added Reynante.

The race, which  is staking P1 million for the overall champion, will resume after a week-long break with Stage 12 set on March 2 in Guimaras and Stages 13 and 14 on March 3 and 4 in Iloilo City.

Boxers from Sanman Promotions have swept the four title matches during the “Laban Pinoy 3: Rise of the Champions” card on Sunday night at the Lagao Gym in General Santos City.

Jade Bornea captured the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth super flyweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Raul Yu in a bloody and brutal 10-round encounter.

Both boxers were busy throwing punches at each other but Bornea became more aggressive late in the match to clinch the crown with a 97-93, 97-93, 98-92 verdict from the judges.

Benjain Mananquil, meanwhile, bagged the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) International bantamweight belt by beating and bludgeoning Glenn Porras via a unanimous decision.

Just like the Bornea-Yu encounter, the Mananquil-Porras clash also had the same pace but the latter gained the casualty with a cut near his eye. All three judges had it 97-93 for Mananquil.

Eden Sonsona, for his part, only needed less than two minutes to extricate his fellow Filipino pugilist Jovanny Rota for the vacant WBF International super featherweight championship.

Sonsona hammered Rota with lightning quick head shots but the latter still managed to stand in the neutral corner. After his first fall, Rota was trapped in the opposite neutral corner and received continued pummeling from Sonsona before the fight was stopped.

Lolito Sonsona, meanwhile, survived a late flurry by Renren Tesorio to escape with a unanimous decision win. Lolito got the WBF Asia Pacific upper flyweight crown by dominating the judges scores 97-93, 96-94, 96-94./PN

The fight card was presented by Sanman Promotions and Solar Sports. It was sponsored by Sen. Manny Pacquiao, the city government of Gensan, Mt. Sabrina Resort, Barberlife and Amoy Promotions./PN
