MANILA – Sen. Cynthia Villar said the reorganization in the Senate had been planned a long time ago.

“It’s a consensus among us. Matagal na ang consensus. Hindi lang nagka-come about. ‘Di ba nakikita niyo naman marami kaming differences palagi. One argument, second argument parang asawa ‘yan e. Paulit-ulit ulit ulit. After a while, you get tired of it,” Villar said on Monday.

She maintained that it had nothing to do with the reopening of the investigation on the extrajudicial killings and attendance of Liberal Party senators during this year’s commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

Matagal na ito. Kaya lang minsan kasi kahit tingin mo may problema kung kaya pa kinakaya para wala na lang gulo. Pero may tipping poing ‘yan e. Parang every week may issue. Napapansin ‘yun na meron nagbobotohan. Ako, ayaw kung nagbobotohan kasi parang hindi maganda. We are supposed to be together,” the senator from Las Piñas said.

On Monday, senators belonging to the LP were ousted from key positions.

Villar said that Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III initiated the Sunday meeting at Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s Forbes Park mansion.

Pero consensus ‘yun. Matagal na ‘yun. Parang naguguluhan sila sa aming lines sa majority at minority,” she added.

Returning as chairwoman of the Senate committee on agriculture, Villar also defended the reorganization at the upper house.

Kasi may clear majority. Tapos alam na namin ano gagawin namin. Noon may confusion ang majority namin, malimit ‘di kami nag-aagree, so doon napapara. At least ngayon, ang majority side, we agree. Then may minority na alam naming minority ‘yun,” according to her.

She also denied President Rodrigo Duterte’s role in the reshuffling of positions.

Hindi siya mahilig sa Congress. I have studied him. Kasi alam mo you have to understand that Duterte came from local government. Hindi niya naa-appreciate ang Senate at House of Representatives… Basta palagi niya lang sinasabi ang kanyang war on drugs. Kasi campaign promise niya ‘yun. He never interfered with us,” Villar ended./PN
