I WAS planning a birthday with two guests, but both were not available on my birthday, so I cancelled my plans and decided to spend the day frivolously on my own as advised by my good friend, Canada-based Catherine Carmela Consing Taylor, who sent me a birthday gift, by the way, huge thanks for the thoughtfulness! I mused I only need one company to complete the birthday bash anyways.
So, what did it entail?
First, since I love all forms of water, haha, I must go to either a restaurant by the sea or by the river! Since a new resto has opened at the Abatan Wharf in Cortes, Bohol in April, this year, and I have been there on two occasions â one with Charina Torregosa Asuntoâs family while the other one with Shiloh Ruthie before she flew back to Manila, I decided that The Buzz will form part of my itinerary.
Hence, I went to the resto and once again was bewitched by the sight of the dazzling river on its peak tide. The water was simply magnificent that I couldnât stop clicking my phone camera to capture the splendid scenery. Itâs pure bliss!
I was curious if the resto offers a treat to birthday celebrators but nah, they donât. It will really be a delight if restos offer a birthday treat to individuals celebrating their birthdays. After all, birthdays are only celebrated once a year.
On the menu, their newest offer is spicy mango pizza. We thought we should try it since we have tasted most of the food and we knew that since the slices are big commensurate to the pay, we will be filled afterwards. My fun company has this to say: âFor lunch, we went to The Buzz and ate their new spicy mango pizza. It was really good, and one could taste their signature honey with every munch.â
On the Abatan River, my company enthused, âBut what made the place special was the Abatan river on its high tide. The water was extremely calming and soothing. Had we not controlled ourselves, we would have jumped into the water with our summer clothes!â That would be a sight, huh!
After the exhilarating lunch experience courtesy of the picturesque locale, I then executed my second activity: a foot spa at Celo and Mitch Nail Spa/Salon. The goal was to pamper myself on my birthday. Since I donât do manicure and pedicure, foot spa was the best choice.
Third itinerary wasnât part of the plan but since itâs time to fill our stomachs, I brought my company to my all-time favorite, Sunburst Fried Chicken! Iâm a fan of this resto since my National Power Corporation-Visayas Regional Center, Cebu City days and it hasnât changed through the years.
Letâs hear it from my company: âAfter the foot massage, we went straight to Sunburst for dinner. The chicken was so good and the noodle soup with a hint of âpatisâ was a great match. Overall, the meal left us full, both in our tummies and in our hearts. Such a comfort food! Perfect for when you need to feel like youâre at home eating your mamaâs cooking.â
And to close the day, music! Yup, it was time for some relaxing music. CĂłclea on Tuesday nights has my favorite singer Art Ungab, but of all days, he had another gig in another venue on my birthday. Hmm.
It was compensated by the band singing âHappy Birthdayâ and my favorite tune from Art, âLatelyâ, which was performed by the lady vocalist. Thank you for catering to my whim, haha!
So, thatâs it, folks! Four activities for my June 6, 2023 birthday. I had a blast! A birthday for one isnât impossible. Well, I could be literally âoneâ but whereâs the fun in that? Your company will enjoy as much as you relish the brand-new experience, and you spend less!
In ending, at 57, it’s all about the 7Fs. I’ll stay Fantastic, Fabulous, Fierce, Feisty, Focused, Frivolous (when needed, haha!), and Favored by God.
To the wonders of fifty-seven! May you bring me places (and romances aha!) I’ve never been before!
