A champion?

WE HAVE two tennis players, one perhaps the greatest ever woman player, and one so nervous she forgot to warm up. Which is the better player?

Maya Joint has managed to beat Serena fairly easily in the match and presented herself well at the after-match conference whereas Serena did a dummy spit and skipped the conference.

Being a champion is a privilege and a responsibility and sometimes you need to know when to back out honorably.

Agreeable?

The Constitution and the Supreme Court agree: if you are born in America, you are an American citizen, but why not the President?

It appears President Donald Trump is heading off to Congress and will ask them to defy the Constitution and the Supreme Court, although there are comments that they might not support his wishes.

When will he and his support team, usually pictured standing behind him, realize the President of America has to support the Constitution as he promised to do on his inauguration day?

There are many laws people dislike or want to ignore but that’s the way the normal world works.

Is President Trump seeing the world not so much with rose-colored glasses but with his own orange-colored ones?

The principals are simple, lead the country following all of its laws, do the best for the people and not yourself. Also, be humble. This applies to many countries around the world.

Color me green

Donald Trump was going to “drain the swamp” but that didn’t work too well with the green Lincoln reflecting pool.

Maybe Lincoln had turned green in anger at what was being done to his memorial pool, or Shrek brought all of his family.

The latest oddity in this enterprise is using National Guards to guard this algae-filled swamp. Many military uniforms are green so they should blend in well.

Sometimes I think politicians don’t live in the real world but rather a swamp, now green, of their own making.

Oh well, we voted for them.

Not quite appropriate

Peace negotiations to stop a war are difficult and a mistake in translation could destroy the process. So how does President Trump’s statement “You won’t even make it back to your f***ing country” help the process?

Bullies only have one approach – violence, usually physical, but of late, online attacks and they rarely give up. It seems that they are lacking in some way and trying to compensate.

This war must stop, not just be put on hold, and threatening the negotiators is just wrong and stupid.

Don’t ignore it, he has initially placed tariffs on most countries, invaded a few, and wants to “buy” a few of his neighbors. Yours could be next./PN
