JORDAN, Guimaras – Active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Guimaras rose to 225 yesterday, June 14, data from the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 showed.
On the other hand, data from the Guimaras provincial government (as of June 13) showed the town of Buenavista having 95 active case, the most among the island’s five municipalities.
Jordan had 36; San Lorenzo, 22; Sibunag, 18; and Nueva Valencia, 13.
The provincial government’s data as of June 13 showed a much lower active cases at 184.
On June 13, Guimaras recorded 31 new cases. Of these, 30 were returning locally stranded individual (LSI).
These 31 new cases were in Buenavista (17), Jordan (four), San Lorenzo (nine), and Sibunag (one).
On the other hand, the COVID-190 death toll in Guimaras was 18, and 542 cases recovered.
“I-paumod ta anay ang puede mapaumod. Kon indi essential ang lakat ukon paggwa sa balay, magpabilin anay sa balay kag sundon ang sa executive order (EO) sang aton gobernador,” said Vice Gov. John Edward Gando.
Gov. Samuel Gumarin recently issued an EO “further restricting the movement of persons to arrest the spread of COVID-19 in the province.”
Here are the additional restrictions:
* Only highly essential inbound / outbound travels will be allowed entry to Guimaras. These include the transport of basic commodities and necessities such as petroleum products, medicines and medical supplies, food, food products and beverages, essential domestic implements / household and personal hygiene products, construction materials, agricultural and fishery products and supplies; medical reasons; exercise of profession and work related transactions; and other meritorious cases as may be determined by the provincial government.
* Business establishments shall be closed except those that are considered essential such as markets, groceries/convenience stores, sari-sari stores, pharmacies, gasoline stations, water refilling stations, banks, money centers, clinics, hospitals, health facilities, funeral parlors, construction supplies, eateries, bakeshops, fast food chains, restaurants, agricultural/poultry supplies, motorcycle and auto supplies, vulcanizing shops and public utilities.
* Essential business establishments shall be allowed to operate from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. only except for pharmacies that can operate from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. while hospitals and funeral parlors are exempted from the said business hour limitations.
* Sea vessels plying the Guimaras-Iloilo route and vice versa shall be allowed to operate from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m.
* Public utility vehicles shall operate from 5 a.m. until 4 p.m.
* Mass gatherings, including those that are religious in nature, are not allowed.
However, meetings and/or gatherings initiated by the government to address the COVID-19 pandemic shall be allowed provided that minimum health protocols are strictly observed.
* Local border restrictions shall be imposed; residents of the municipalities of Nueva Valencia, Sibunag and San Lorenzo are restricted from going to the towns of Jordan and Buenavista except for reasons of work or work-related transactions, medical reasons, access of essential goods and other meritorious grounds as determined by the Provincial Government./PN
