ILOILO City – The city government and Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) will form ad hoc committees in each of the metro’s seven districts to address lawlessness involving minors and gangs.
According to ICPO director Police Colonel Leo Batiles, each ad hoc committee will have representatives from the police, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Task Force on Morals and Values Formation, Department of Education, and barangays council.
They will design programs and projects that will veer the youth away from bad influence.
ICPO’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) has counted 22 gangs in the city with a combined membership of 149.
A week ago, two rival gangs clashed in Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo district. Two teenagers sustained injuries.
One was 16 years old. He had a stab wound on the waist. The other was 14 years old. He was also stabbed. Both were residents of Barangay Calumpang, Molo district and members of Rapcy gang. They were hospitalized.
A suspect had been arrested – a 14-year-old land. He was detained at the Arevalo police station. Another suspect was able to elude police arrest.
Both suspects were residents of Barangay Calaparan and members of Mcstuffin Jr. gang.
