BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) identified four additional sites for the housing program for informal settler families (ISFs).
SP Committee on Urban Poor chairperson Councilor Vladimir Gonzales said housing will also be established in barangays Mandalagan, Cabug, Estefania, and Felisa.
Four private landowners in these barangays also signified support for the program, the councilor added.
“The city and the private developer will go into a memorandum of agreement where the private developer will provide the structure and the land while the city will identify the housing beneficiaries,” added Gonzales.
In March, a joint venture agreement for P2 billion worth of settlements was signed for two sets of 10,000 housing units for ISFs under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing program of the national government, through the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.
An initial 3,000 housing units would be built at the relocation site in Barangay Vista Alegre and in the Reclamation Area (7,000 units), with a commitment to build 10,000 more units as additional land is made available by the city government./PN
