BACOLOD City – A frustrated murder suspect, who had been hiding from the police for more than 16 years, was arrested in Barangay Himoga-an Baybay, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Joey Batayen, 43, of Barangay Tiglawigan, Cadiz City was caught on the strength of an arrest warrant around 12:10 p.m. on June 5, police said.
Police officers served the warrant issued by Judge Renato Muñez of the Regional Trial Court Branch 60 in Cadiz City dated Feb.11, 2004.
The suspect was detained in the custodial facility of the Sagay City police station.
The court recommended a P200,000 bail bond for his temporary liberty./PN
