Aklan BAGHAY film fest to feature stories of PWUDs

KALIBO, Aklan – Success stories on the transformation of Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) will be showcased in a film festival competition for students in the province.

“This activity will showcase the talents and skills of students in making documentary films depicting true-to-life and winning stories of our PWUDs. We have invited senior students under the K-12 Program taking up Media and Information Literacy subject in the province to join and participate in the said contest,” said Ramel Buncalan, president of the Bagong Buhay Handum Naton (BAGHAY) Incorporated.

The BAGHAY will organize the competition as part of its 3rd anniversary launched by the Provincial Advisory Council for Police Transformation and Development of the Aklan Police Provincial Office in support to the ongoing transformation program and the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.

Buncalan said aside from the contest, BAGHAY also partners with the Department of Social Welfare and Development on the latter’s Sustainable Livelihood Program.

At least ten associations of PWUD’s in the province benefited from the program, he added.

Buncalan said the 2019 BAGHAY Film Festival will be held at the training center in Barangay Old Buswang, Kalibo today./PN
