Aklan on Alert Level 2 as COVID-19 cases fall

KALIBO, Aklan – With the continuing trend of declining case numbers, the province of Aklan is shifting to a more lenient alert level.

Aklan will shift to Alert Level 2 beginning February 16 to 28, according to Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case counts have been on a downward trend in February. The two-week (February 1 to 14) moving average of 18 cases has decreased by 82 percent compared with the previous two-week (January 18 to 31) average of 98 cases.

On Sunday, 29 tests were performed with a positivity rate of 10.34 percent.

Hospitalizations have been decreasing, with 32 people admitted in hospitals compared to 73 on February 1.

Nine deaths were also reported between February 1 to 14. There have been 356 deaths in the province since the pandemic began.

Currently, there are 164 active cases. There are also 47 people observing home quarantine and 84 are isolated in COVID-19 facilities.

Under Alert 2, establishments are allowed to operate at a maximum of 50 percent indoor venue capacity and 70 percent outdoor venue capacity for fully vaccinated individuals. Government agencies and instrumentalities remain to be fully operational to at least 80 percent on-site workforce.

Operations of cockpits, lottery, horse racing, casinos, and other gaming establishments are not allowed to operate except as may be authorized by the inter-agency task force or the Office of the President.

Antique, Capiz, Negros Occidental, and the highly urbanized Bacolod City were also placed under Alert Level 2 from February 16 to 28./PN
