Aklan records 4 new COVID-19 deaths

AKLAN – Four people died from coronavirus disease (COVID)-related complications from May 1 to 14 in the province.

Ibajay town reported two fatalities, while Nabas and Lezo towns had one each.

Deaths were recorded among older adults with underlying comorbidities, between 70 and 80 years old.

In the same period, Aklan had 25 active cases, of which four were new.

Kalibo, Banga and Ibajay towns recorded three cases each; Makato, Madalag, Numancia, Altavas, Nabas and Balete had two cases each; and Tangalan, Batan, Malinao and Lezo had one case each.

The youngest patient was a one-month-old and the oldest was a 93-year-old; both were admitted to the hospital.

“You should not let your guard down. Boost your immune system to fight coronavirus,” said Department of Health-Aklan Disease Surveillance officer Ma. Elma May Pendon.

She also encouraged the public to wear a mask in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated places./PN
