AKLAN – An P80 million budget has been set aside for the rehabilitation of the 6.5-hectare Aklan Sports Complex in Barangay Calangcang, Makato, Aklan.

Gov. Jose Enrique Miraflores announced this during the opening of the Aklan Provincial Athletic Association Meet 2024 yesterday, March 14.

“We have allocated P80 million budget for this year to improve our existing sports complex in Makato,” he said.

The governor disclosed that he has already discussed and agreed on this plan with Congressman Jojo Ang of the Uswag Ilonggo Partylist, who allocated the renovation budget.

Miraflores mentioned plans to renovate and expand the oval track and field, as well as other facilities in the sports complex.

Furthermore, the governor expressed his desire to construct a gymnasium similar to the ABL Sports Complex in Kalibo to complement the existing facilities.

“It is my fervent wish that we will also have our own sports gym or a gym like the ABL Sports Complex located on the western side of Aklan,” he added.

Miraflores also assured that they have many more programs and projects in store for the youth and student-athletes.

“Under my administration, alongside the help of our partners, we consistently ensure the implementation of various programs for the youth and student-athletes in our province of Aklan,” he stated./PN
