ALEX Gonzaga revealed that she had her nose implant removed last July, a decision she made after struggling with redness and irritation on her nose for quite some time.

Gonzaga opened up about having her Gore-Tex nose implant removed on her vlog on Sunday, Sept. 14, after having it for two years. She added that she decided on it after consulting with celebrity doctor, Dra. Vicki Belo.

Gore-Tex, or expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), is a kind of implant used in rhinoplasty to “reshape and augment” the nose, wherein one’s natural tissues can grow into it, according to medical and aesthetic platform Shin Medical.

Pinatanggal ko na. Wala na siya. Wala na. Out na. Wala na ang aking Gore-Tex, pinatanggal ko na ang ilong ko after two years. Nakapag-decide ako na ipatanggal ko na lang. Isa sa mga concerns ko is even sina Toni Fowler nakikita na laging namumula ang ilong ko lalo na kapag malamig, pagod, puyat, gan’un,” she said.

According to Belo (told to Gonzaga via a phone call), such a case happens when the body rejects the implant, while assuring the actress-content creator that she will be fine after the surgery.

Gonzaga also reminded her followers that while there’s nothing wrong with going through enhancements, getting a “second opinion” is crucial, as the effects will be “irreversible.”

“Suggestion ko, sa lahat ng mga nagbabalak na magpa-enhance or anything, ang gusto ko lang i-remind is wala namang masama [sa] pag-enhance or magpagawa or whatever, and kung ano man ang mga binabalak mo, make sure na mag-second opinion ka muna. Mahirap na kapag after operation, may mangyari sa’yo kasi irreversible na ang gagawin sa’yo,” she said.

Gonzaga also shared a closer glimpse of her nose in an Instagram post.

“Pinatanggal ko na goretex ko!! Back to asian face tayo but hindi sa factory setting (I had my Gore-Tex removed. We’re back to an Asian face but not on factory setting),” she said.

Gonzaga made headlines after it was revealed that she suffered a third miscarriage last December.

Despite this, her husband Mikee Morada remained hopeful that they would be blessed with their first child someday. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
