BACOLDO City – Allegations of illegal drug use and sale among employees are hounding the Negros Occidental provincial government.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier announced that the provincial government would conduct random drug tests if substantial information indicates drug use among employees.
The capitol plans to tap the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for the tests.
According to Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, any casual or job-order employee who tests positive for illegal drugs will not have their contracts renewed.
Local government units in the province, including its capital, Bacolod City, conducted surprise drug tests among their employees.
A total of 53 employees of the Bacolod city government tested positive for illegal drugs recently. (Watchmen Daily Journal)
