ILOILO City – Almost 2,000 Ilonggos – mostly workers from tourism-related services and organizations – received cash assistance through the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) of the Department of Tourism and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Mayor Jerry Treñas led the turnover ceremony yesterday with Iloilo City Rep. Julienne Baronda and DOLE regional director Cyril Ticao.
Specifically, 1,856 Ilonggo workers will receive P5,000 each. A total of P9,250,000 will be released to them.
“Ang mga pigado nga sektor ang nagapadayon nga nagatinguha kag nagarisgo sang ila kalawasan para sa ila pamilya ang aton guid nga buligan kag ipabugal,” said Treñas.
The first batch of beneficiaries include seven workers of Camilla’s Salon; 132 tricycle and trisikad drivers from barangays Don Esteban, Sinikway, and Holy Spirit; 137 members of Gustilo-Arroyo Trisikad Drivers’ Associations; 21 members of Fatima Jaro Tricycle and Trisikad Association; 191 workers from Iloilo Mission Hospital; 157 workers from Ilonggo Artist Festival Association; 77 members of Jaro Hi-way Dungon Tricycle Association; 21 members of Katilingban sang Leganes Drivers and Operators Incorporated; 82 members of Mandurriao Jaro Drivers and Operators, 34 members of Nabitasan Hechanova Tricycle Association; and 997 members of Association of Taxi Operators of the Philippines- Iloilo.
