BACOLOD City – In Barangay Telim, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, an altercation between two sugarcane workers turned fatal.
The 25-year-old Julyten Esconde of Barangay Malanog, Calatrava died of hacked wounds on the neck and body, police said.
His co-worker Samuel Manaba Villamor, 32, was tagged suspect.
Police Major Rocky Desear, Calatrava police station chief, said the incident happened around 6 p.m. on Dec. 10. It was Esconde who allegedly attacked Villamor first after a heated argument ensued between them. Villamor then retaliated and hacked Esconde using a cane cutter. Esconde was killed on the spot
Villamor, meanwhile, was brought to a hospital for medical treatment. Charges will be filed against him./PN
