Amid split rumors, Joshua, Julia professional on set, says director

RUMORS about Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto reportedly deciding to part ways have been going around for quite some time now. But despite all the speculation about the real status of JoshLia’s relationship, filmmaker Mikhail Red reveals the couple has maintained a professional working relationship on the set of the upcoming zombie thriller “Block Z.”

During an interview with ABS-CBN News at the Thanksgiving event for the blockbuster success of the thriller “Eerie” which Red also directed, the director reassured fans of the tandem that the film, which has five shooting days left, will push through.

“Everyone’s professional on set. ‘Yung mga sets ko, I’m also proud na it’s always a fun and happy set, a very hip set, and I like working with a young crew,” said Red.

Kami ‘yung type na we have fun, we play, we dance, we sing, we play hiphop music on set, and we also want to keep everything light,” he added.

He then went on: “Even ‘yung stars involved, if you ask them, if you look at their IG stories, it’s always a fun environment. Everyone’s working so well to make this film as good as it can be.”

Meanwhile, “Block Z,” which Red has consistently dubbed as a first in Philippine cinema, said he is set to pioneer a Zombie film that has Filipino elements in it.

“I can’t really compare it to anything else locally. Nothing has been made like this,” he said. “I also don’t want to compare it to Hollywood movies, kasi iba ‘to, kasi may Filipino elements.”

“Block Z” also stars Ina Raymundo, Ian Veneracion, Dimples Romana, Mccoy de Leon, Maris Racal, and Yves Flores.

As of this writing, no release date has been announced yet for the film. (Push)
