CAPIZ — Ang Panublion Museum in Roxas City marked National Arts Month with the opening of “Lugayaw,” the fourth solo exhibition of artist Smart Garbo, on February 7.
The exhibition forms part of the museum’s year-long program dedicated to promoting culture, heritage, and the arts in the community.
“Lugayaw,” a Hiligaynon term meaning “journey,” explores Garbo’s personal and artistic evolution. The exhibit features a collection of paintings and installations that reflect the artist’s experiences, challenges, milestones, and continuing sources of inspiration.
The artworks trace Garbo’s path from humble beginnings to self-discovery, conveying themes of growth, resilience, and transformation that resonated with museum visitors.
Ahead of the exhibition opening, Garbo collaborated with the Capiz State University (CapSU) Artists Guild to conduct an art workshop for local artists and enthusiasts. The activity aimed to provide participants with insights into the artistic process while fostering creativity, collaboration, and community engagement.
The opening of “Lugayaw” drew artists, art enthusiasts, and community members, who engaged in discussions on the stories and meanings conveyed through the works on display. The exhibition served as a platform for dialogue and reflection on shared human experiences as expressed through visual art.
