Anini-y’s incumbent mayor dies at 80

ANTIQUE — Anini-y Mayor Reynaldo B. Pollicar passed away on Monday, March 9, at the age of 80.

Pollicar, who would have celebrated his 81st birthday on April 11, was serving as mayor of the municipality of Anini-y, Antique at the time of his death.

The Municipality of Anini-y confirmed the mayor’s passing through an announcement posted on its official Facebook page, paying tribute to his years of public service and dedication to the community.

“With heavy hearts, we honor the life and legacy of Hon. Reynaldo B. Pollicar, Mayor of the Municipality of Anini-y. We bid farewell to a man who defined what it means to serve. A dedicated leader and a true servant of the people, his commitment to our community will never be forgotten,” the local government unit said in its statement.

“Thank you, Hon. Reynaldo B. Pollicar, for your years of devotion to the people of Anini-y. Your life’s work remains our guide. You will be deeply missed but forever remembered,” it added.

As of this writing, the cause of the mayor’s death has not yet been disclosed by the local government or his family.

Meanwhile, Antique Lone District Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda and Gov. Paolo Javier expressed their condolences to the Pollicar family and the people of Anini-y.

“I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the family and to the entire municipality of Anini-y on the passing of our good mayor, Hon. Rene Pollicar. May you find strength and comfort in the beautiful memories of his life and service,” Legarda said in a statement.

Legarda recalled his personal acquaintance with Pollicar and described him as a hardworking public official who devoted himself fully to serving the people of Anini-y.

“His dedication and compassion for the people of Anini-y will remain an inspiration to many Antiqueños. Thank you very much for your genuine service, Mayor Rene,” he added.

Gov. Javier and other local officials in Antique also conveyed their sympathies to the bereaved family./PN
