REALIZING how good RMN DYRI Iloilo is for all who had transferred before him, 13-year broadcast veteran Benroy Bernal leaves Bombo Radyo Iloilo for good.
Bernal, a five-year Chief of Reporters of the Florete-owned radio station, said, “Midway in my career, I find excitement working with my broadcast idols who I look up to since high school. I shall continue the journey to serve the public with Iloilo’s top caliber anchormen.”
Bernal will be reunited with former colleagues Henry Lumawag and Don Dolido.
RMN DYRI Iloilo has changed the broadcast terrain as source of livelihood for 10 years now when the era of health and wellness products and services blended aggressively with the broadcast economy. Station Manager Ronel Sorbito said, “We offer salaries and benefits similar to seafarers depending on management position, program standing and seniority.”
“his is to make sure that our financial independence will redound to independence of our news and commentaries,” added News Director Emerson Labrillaso.
RMN DYRI, the overall No. 1 AM Station in Iloilo in the official KBP-Kantar survey on April 28 to May 4, 2021, had garnered 69 percent audience share over Bombo Radyo with 23 percent and Aksyon Radyo with seven percent audience shares.
RMN DYRI Iloilo is the only provincial radio station with 1.3 million followers and a million viewers and engagements on news coverages.
“Not to forget that RMN DYRI Iloilo is the only 24-hour broadcast station in the locality that provides Ilonggos with uninterrupted access to news, information and public service,” said Special Projects Head Joel Franco.
The former Bombo Benroy will be working under the Programming Department as anchorman and investigative reporter.
“To the former Bombo Benroy, RMN welcomes you as Radyoman Benroy,” said Program Director Novie Guazo who pioneered together with Sorbito the relaunch of the Canoy-owned radio station in 2006.
RMN DYRI Iloilo has been No. 1 in the surveys for several times already because of its core values of fairness, integrity, credibility and resiliency. It inched its way to the top notwithstanding the odds during its infancy./PN
