Comelec-Bacolod resumes voters’ registration

BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in this city resumes today the voters’ registration following a temporary closure.

In a memorandum dated Sept. 13, 2021, Director Wilfred Jay Balisado of Comelec Region 6 ordered Negros Occidental’s acting provincial election supervisor, Ma. Fatima Aspan to also assume as city acting election officer.

This will be until all personnel of the Comelec here complete their mandatory quarantine period, said Balisado.

City Comelec officer Kathrina Caña confirmed yesterday that one of their employees tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The patient was symptomatic and has been facility quarantined.

Last month, the city Comelec’s operation was suspended after three employees contracted COVID-19.

Since the registration deadline is near, Caña said she coordinated with the Comelec Central office if they could provide personnel to augment to Comelec-Bacolod to conduct the registration while the 14 staff, including her, are on quarantine./PN
