SAN JOSE, Antique – By next week or a few weeks from now the Antique Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) laboratory will undergo a dry run, according to Dr. Jose Lyndion Perez, chief of the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH).
The laboratory is located at the ASGMH here.
Medical technologists of the hospital already finished and passed their module one, two and three trainings on molecular biology techniques for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing.
These trainings were part of the accreditation requirements of the Department of Health (DOH).
“Sa molecular laboratory na-pass natun ang first, second and third training sa University of the Philippines Visayas on Thursday and Friday last week. Naka-virtual inspection run man kita ni DOH and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine,” said Perez.
He added: “Sa oras nga ma-pass natun ang proficiency testing, matugro si DOH kanatun ka license to operate. Hopefully by next week maka-schedule run kita.”
According to Perez, they are also planning to apply for PhilHealth accreditation so that PhilHealth members will be able to avail themselves of reimbursement for their testing payment.
Once the laboratory officially starts operating, the price of the RT-PCR testing will be around P2,500, he added. (Antique PIO)/PN
