ANTIQUE – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) here has officially downgraded the alert status of its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) from “red” to “blue” effective 5 p.m. on July 19.
According to the PDRRMC memorandum, the change in alert status comes as the province experiences gradually improving weather conditions and no new reports of flooding, landslides, or other adverse impacts linked to the recent enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat.
Under the alert system the white alert signifies normal operations with low-level readiness. Blue alert indicates heightened readiness, requiring increased personnel presence and emergency preparations. While the red alert represents the highest alert level, demanding full mobilization, round-the-clock monitoring, and immediate response.
Broderick Train, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said that the decision reflects the absence of new weather-related incidents in the province.
Despite the downgrade, PDRRMC member agencies, response clusters, municipal DRRM offices, and barangay DRRM committees are instructed to maintain continuous monitoring of weather developments. They are also advised to implement precautionary measures in case the habagat intensifies or new threats arise.
Moreover, clusters involved in logistics, debris clearing, search and rescue, camp coordination and management, and delivery of food and non-food items, health, and humanitarian assistance are to remain fully activated to continue response and early recovery efforts.
Authorities warned that the current alert level may be raised again if significant weather disturbances re-emerge in the coming days.
