Antique exceeds 45K DOH target for vaccination

ANTIQUE – From Nov. 9 to Dec. 1 (National Vaccination Days), 51,150 Antiqueños were vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This number is way over the target that the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 set for Antique – 45,000 individuals.

The vaccinees were free to choose which COVID-19 vaccines they wanted to be inoculated with and this was probably one of the factors that encouraged them to participate in the three-day vaccination drive, according to Sheree Vego, Infectious Disease Cluster head of the Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO).

The vaccines made available were Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Sinovac.

Vego also cited the preparations that the APHO made.

“During the pre-implementation, we had a meeting and orientation with MHOs (Municipal Health Officers) kay sanda gid ang ma-roll out, and also our stakeholders. Nag-meeting man kita with the Provincial Department of Health Office and pati man ang aton nga mga hospitals,” Vego said.

To further strengthen the vaccination campaign, local government units have launched mobile vaccination caravans and house-to-house vaccination.

The provincial government is hopeful of further lowering the number of active COVID-19 cases and  increasing the number of vaccinated Antiqueños.

As of Dec. 4, Antique had only 15 active cases./PN
