ANTIQUE — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Antique has approved a resolution strongly encouraging provincial and municipal government employees to incorporate patadyong fabric into their official uniforms, in a bid to promote local culture and support indigenous industries.
Resolution No. 250–2026, titled “A Resolution Strongly Encouraging and Promoting the Wearing of Patadyong-Accented Uniforms for All Provincial and Municipal Government Employees in the Province of Antique,” was introduced by SP Member Joseph Eugene D. Alojipan and approved during the 9th Regular Session on March 9, held at the Provincial Legislative Building in San Jose de Buenavista.
The measure highlights the patadyong—a traditional handwoven fabric of Antiqueños—as a symbol of the province’s rich cultural heritage, identity, and artistry.
According to the resolution, incorporating patadyong accents into government uniforms will help foster cultural appreciation, strengthen local identity, and instill pride in public service.
The SP also emphasized that the initiative will provide direct economic benefits to local weavers and accredited producers by prioritizing the use of locally sourced materials.
Under the resolution, the provincial government, through appropriate offices, may formulate guidelines and design standards to ensure the proper integration of patadyong into uniforms while maintaining dignity, uniformity, cultural authenticity, and practicality.
The measure further encourages all municipal government units in Antique to adopt similar practices.
Vice Gov. Genevieve Lim-Reyes, who presided over the session, affirmed the resolution, which was certified correct by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary Nitur Alba Gabin.
Copies of the resolution will be furnished to concerned provincial offices, municipal local government units, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government–Antique for guidance and appropriate action.
