ANTIQUE – The province of Antique, situated in the western section of Panay Island, welcomed 72,877 tourists in the first half of 2023, according to the Provincial Tourism Office (PTO).
Pandan town, where Western Visayas’ famous cold spring Malumpati could be found, logged the most tourist arrivals with 15,019 as of June.
Antique’s capital town, San Jose de Buenavista, followed with 14,617 arrivals.
The tourist arrivals of the remaining towns were as follows: Culasi – 7,861; Caluya – 7,785; Tibiao – 5,821; Anini-y – 5,566; and San Remigio – 3,719; Patnongon – 3,478; Hamtic – 1,753; Libertad – 1,573; Sebaste – 1,006; Sibalom – 845; Barbaza – 815; Valderrama – 656; Belison – 489; Laua-an – 367; Bugasong – 275; and Tobias Fornier – 232.
On Friday, Sept. 8, the provincial government of Antique, through the PTO, kicked off the celebration for Tourism Month 2023.
A ribbon cutting of the photo exhibit of Antique’s tourist spots at the Tourist Information Center was held.
The program was led by Gov. Rhodora Cadiao, together with Sangguniang Panalalawigan members Pio Sumande, Maye Plameras, Dante Beriong, and Karmila Rose Dimamay.
Also present was PTO head Juan Carlos C. Perlas, who hoped local and foreign tourists would continue to explore the province’s beautiful beaches and mountains, among other tourist spots. (With a report from the Radyo Bandera Sweet FM Antique)/PN
