ANTIQUE — The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has activated a blue alert status for its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) throughout the Binirayan Festival 2025 and other major provincial events.
The directive, issued on December 1, is in response to the expected increase in human activity and crowd concentration, as well as the latest technical advisory from PAGASA regarding a Tropical Cyclone Threat Potential Forecast (TCTPF) for “Wilma” in the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
According to Broderick G. Train, head of the PDRRMO and Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (LDRRMO), the blue alert status covers the entire duration of the Binirayan Festival 2025 (December 1 to 29) and the Antique Provincial Athletic Association Meet (APAAM 2025) (December 4 to 7). The activation aims to ensure heightened monitoring and rapid response readiness for both event-related and weather-induced risks.
The PDRRMC, PDRRMC/MDRRMCs, response clusters, and concerned subsite task groups (SSTGs) are directed to implement continuous monitoring, closely watching local and regional weather conditions, particularly the PAGASA TCTPF for “Wilma” and assessing potential threats to ensure full operational readiness across all EOCs.
Furthermore, they must strengthen inter-agency communication and information sharing for timely decision-making and coordinated responses. Response readiness is critical, requiring the PDRRMC to ensure all response teams, equipment, and mobility assets are ready to enable rapid mobilization in cases of emergencies arising from ongoing provincial activities or adverse weather conditions.
Finally, all members are tasked with immediate reporting, promptly communicating any unusual incidents, safety concerns, or weather-related observations that may affect public safety or the conduct of the events.
