Antique prepares food packs ahead of storm

SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Antique has prepared 500 family food packs for those who would be affected by Typhoon “Ompong.”

Melrose Amaran, head of the DSWD-Antique, said on Friday that the food packs are ready to be distributed should there be a calamity.

“We have 500 family food packs prepositioned,” she stressed.

She added that as of yesterday, Antique has been placed on “blue alert” status – meaning response actions are ready as the typhoon landfall is expected today.

Meanwhile, Noemi Tagle of the Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office said they are now maintaining a “skeletal force” with the Provincial Engineering Office.

This is pursuant to Executive Order 141 issued by Gov. Rhodora Cadiao on Sept. 14.

“We are going to have skeletal force until Sunday,” Tagle said.

She said the skeletal force will also be reporting from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. (With PNA/PN)
