ILOILO City — A 32-year-old provincial government employee in Antique was arrested on November 24 during a sting operation in Barangay 5, San Jose, Antique.
The suspect, identified as “Pido” of Sibalom, Antique, is a job-order employee of the Antique provincial government. He was apprehended at 8:28 a.m. in a buy-bust operation, during which authorities recovered 60 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P408,000.
The operation was a coordinated effort conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Antique Provincial Office, the San Jose Municipal Police Station Special Drug Enforcement Team, and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Antique Police Office.
Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) Director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan commended the team for the successful operation. “The seizure of illegal drugs clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of our strengthened collaboration with all concerned agencies. This accomplishment highlights the unwavering dedication, coordination, and vigilance of our law enforcement units and partner institutions in our shared mission to suppress illegal drug activities,” he said.
Ligan added that PRO-6 remains committed to combating illegal drugs and ensuring safer communities in Western Visayas.
The arrested employee is currently in police custody and will face charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
