
ANTIQUE – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Antique brought honor to the province after clinching multiple awards in the 2025 Regional Rescuelympics held on August 24 to 25 at Camp Pasica, Dingle, Iloilo.
Under the directives of Gov. Paolo Javier, the provincial rescue team represented the province in the two-day competition organized by the Office of Civil Defense Region 6 (OCD-6) and the Provincial Government of Iloilo. The event gathered disaster response units from across Western Visayas to test their search and rescue (SAR) skills, teamwork, and emergency response capabilities.
Antique’s PDRRMO emerged victorious in several categories, bagging second runner-up in Overall Performance, Best in Static Display of Response Capabilities (Special Award), and Excellence Award in Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue
In recognition of its strong showing, the OCD and the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) 6 also announced that Antique will serve as the host province of the 2026 Regional Rescuelympics.
Gov. Javier lauded the achievement, emphasizing that it highlighted Antique’s growing capacity in disaster preparedness and response.
“Our PDRRMO has once again proven that Antique is ready and capable when it comes to disaster response. This victory is a testament to the dedication, skill, and teamwork of our responders,” he said.
The Antique delegation was further reinforced by responders from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of San Jose, who augmented the provincial team during the competitions./PN
