ANTIQUE — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Antique has recognized six Antiqueño athletes who brought honor to the province after winning medals in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa held in Agusan del Sur from May 24 to 31.
The provincial board commended the athletes during its regular session on Monday and announced plans to pass a resolution formally recognizing their achievements and contributions to Antique’s growing sports development program.
Among those honored were bronze medalists Kent Reynald Fernandez and Precious Mae Sebullen of Belison, who competed in the Elementary Dancesport Modern Standard event, and Maria Cecilia Z. Piedad of San Jose de Buenavista, who won a silver medal in the Elementary Girls’ 4×50-Meter Freestyle Relay.
Also recognized were Caluya athletes Zachary Pallares, gold medalist in the Elementary Boys’ 4×100-Meter Relay; Khent Joseph D. Belarmino, gold medalist in Shot Put; and Jeza Mae L. Eulogio, silver medalist in Javelin Throw.
Fernandez, Sebullen and Piedad personally attended the SP session and met with members of the provincial board, who lauded their dedication and outstanding performance in the country’s premier youth sporting event.
The three medalists from Caluya were unable to attend the recognition ceremony due to travel constraints.
Provincial legislators said the athletes’ accomplishments brought pride and honor to Antique while showcasing the province’s athletic talent on the national stage.
