Antiqueño livestock, veggie dealers get food pass

SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional 6 through, its Agriculture Program Coordinator Office (APCO), has issued food passes to 93 vegetable and livestock dealers and haulers following the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in Antique.

Agriculture officer Sonie Guanco, DA-APCO officer-in-charge, said during the Inter-Agency for COVID-19 press briefing Friday they started to issue food pass to dealers and haulers of live animals and fresh/processed fruits and vegetables on March 20.

“We have two issuance areas at the Antique capitol lobby and in our DA Research Station in Patnongon town,” he said.

He said the food pass is shown to the IATF team manning checkpoints in Anini-y in the southern part of Antique and in Pandan and Libertad in the northern part so that their products could be transported into the province.

“There are also dealers and haulers who requested for the food pass because the checkpoints in the municipal borders also look for it,” he said.

“The food pass is for free,” Guanco added, saying that DA-APCO is requesting these dealers and haulers to submit copies of their handler’s license, business permit, registration certificate, and the application forms.

Meanwhile, the IATF has also put up sanitation tents at borders for cargo trucks entering Antique will be sanitized.

The IATF team at the borders is only allowing the truck to enter Antique borders from other provinces provided that there is another driver inside the border that would take over the vehicle and drive to its destination or market. (with a report from PNA/PN)
