Antique’s No. 1 most wanted man arrested

SAN JOSE, Antique – Charged with multiple murder and multiple attempted murder, Antique’s No. 1 most wanted person was arrested in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The 48-year-old Diosdado Belario alias “Ka Langgo” or “Ka David” in the rebel movement was collared by the joint elements of the Sebaste, Antique police force and the Antique Police Provincial Office’s intelligence team around 11:40 p.m. on May 17.

Belario’s rebel group allegedly operated in the Antique-Iloilo area.

He was among the 11 personalities suspected to have staged an ambush on July 31, 1990 in Barangay Bacalan, Sebaste against the personnel of the town’s police station.

The ambush led to the death of the then Integrated National Police (INP) Station Commander of Sebaste and 11 civilians who were passing by the area on board an INP patrol jeep.

Of the 11 suspects who were subsequently charged, six were already arrested, two were allegedly already dead while three more were still at-large.

Belario was listed as the top fugitive of Antique with standing warrants of arrest for multiple murder and multiple attempted murder issued by Presiding Judge Josefina Muego of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 13 (Culasi, Antique).

The court recommended no bail bond for the temporary liberty of Belario.

The suspect was temporarily detained at the Sta. Rosa, Laguna municipal police station and would be moved to Antique soon./PN
