BLACK Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap is back with a new track and new sound entitled “2 Proud”. This time, he collaborated with K-pop star Sandara Park.

Apl shared that the idea of the collaboration started during the pandemic lockdown.

“This collaboration came from, I’ve been working on a project, new sound that I was inspired by Afrobeat,” he said.

“So, I’ve been experimenting on it before and during pandemic. And you know good friends with 2NE1, we collaborated with them before and I always see Sandara there back in the Philippines and I’ve been wanting to collaborate with her,” he added.

Apl sent the demo sample to Sandara. “And she wanted to try something new and she liked it and we recorded the song during pandemic.”

For Apl, the collaboration is extra special, because of its meaning and the time the project was made.

“This song and this collaboration was an outlet during pandemic going thru a rough time with relationship and so it became an outlet to express and I’m a big fan of K-pop music and been wanting to collab with K-pop artist for a while,” he said.

Sandara was on Apl’s top of mind considering her roots, familiarity, and popularity back home, and he was happy to learn that she liked it.

“The connection with Sandara, she lived in the Philippines for a while, she knows how to speak Tagalog. So you know, it just makes sense the collaboration so you know she loves Philippines, she’s always here. Recently she just came back to watch Regine concert and yes she’s they say – one of our best import.” (ABS-CBN NEWS)
